About This System

An unofficial two-app platform for the ALX alumni community: a public site where members discover events, initiatives, and jobs, and an admin panel where community staff run the entire program from one connected back office.

Business Need

• A community platform only works if the people running it can actually run it. Pairing a public site with a dedicated admin panel means events, jobs, and partnerships are managed by community staff, not by an engineer editing a database.
• Keeping both apps on one shared data model means what an admin publishes (an event, a job posting, a speaker slot) shows up on the public site instantly, with no manual sync step in between.
• Splitting discovery (public site) from control (admin panel) lets each app stay focused: members get a fast, uncluttered browsing experience, while staff get the density and tooling an operations dashboard actually needs.

System Overview

• ALX Pulse is built as two React 19/TypeScript single-page apps sharing one backend: a public site for the ALX alumni community, and an admin panel for the staff running it.
• The public site covers the member-facing journey: discovering events and initiatives, applying to speak, browsing the job board, and managing a professional profile.
• The admin panel is the control center behind it: creating and running events, managing job postings and partner companies, maintaining the alumni directory, and moderating speaker and topic requests submitted from the public site.
• Every piece of content an admin publishes on one side is what a member sees on the other: one connected platform, not two separate products.

• Admin panel: event and initiative management with multi-step creation wizards, job board and company-partnership administration, an alumni directory, and real-time analytics dashboards.
• Shared data model: content published from the admin panel appears on the public site immediately, keeping the two apps in sync as one product.
• Both apps share the same modern stack (React 19, TypeScript, Redux Toolkit, React Router v7) for a consistent experience across the platform.
